What does it mean to #GiveLikeAJCIII?

AJ Cooper III was a man of actionNo issue was too big or too small.

If he saw a way to help another human being, he didn't wait for permission, for the "right" time, of for others to join him. He just did what needed to be done.

Where others saw obstacles, he saw opportunity--opportunity for change for the better.

He believed that through his actions, he could change lives, he could change minds, and he could change the world.

The City Council of the District of Columbia designated August 17, 2015, what would have been Cooper's 35th birthday, as the AJ Cooper Day of Service.

"My only birthday wish is that you do something kind for someone today.
It can be a small thing or a big thing as long as it spreads joy.
Let’s make the world a better place one act of kindness at a time."

This year and every year, let's make sure his birthday wish comes true. We encourage everyone to join us in celebration as we #GiveLikeAJCIII

On the AJ Cooper Day of Service, we challenge you to keep his spirit alive--not only in your hearts and minds, but through your actions

Do something big: organize a community cleanup or a charity walk. Or do something simple: buy a stranger a cup of coffee, read to a child, or spend time at your local senior center.

Whatever it is, wherever you are, if you have the chance to make the world a better place, don't let it pass you by. Do whatever you can and do whatever it takes.

On August 17th, #GiveLikeAJCIII

Tell us how you will #GiveLikeAJCIII.

Tweet about it. Instagram it.

But most importantly, DO it.
